Compare KB, MB, GB, TB with KiB, MiB, GiB, and TiB precisely.

Result

Inputs and calculations remain in this browser tab.

How it works

Decimal prefixes use powers of 1,000, while binary prefixes use powers of 1,024. One byte contains eight bits.

Using the result

Operating systems and storage vendors may display capacity using different conventions, producing different-looking numbers for the same byte count.

Important limitation

Use the explicit IEC units KiB, MiB, GiB, and TiB when binary quantities must be unambiguous.
