How it works
Percentage calculations compare a part with a whole by scaling the ratio to 100. The calculator supports finding a percentage of a value, determining what percentage one value is of another, measuring change, and reversing a percentage adjustment.
Using the result
Keep the values in their original units. A percentage change uses the original value as its denominator, while percentage points describe the direct difference between two percentages.
Important limitation
When reversing an increase or decrease, divide the final value by the multiplier rather than simply subtracting the percentage.
