How it works
The scale factor is desired servings divided by original servings. Every ingredient amount is multiplied by that same factor.
Using the result
Lines should begin with a whole number, decimal, or simple fraction. Descriptive lines without a leading quantity remain unchanged.
Important limitation
Seasoning, pan size, cooking time, and leavening may need judgment even when ingredient quantities scale mathematically.
